Close friend has HEP C and will be treated next week...does anyone know....................?

I just found out a very close friend of mine has hep C and is going for treatment next week. He had a biopsy several weeks ago and the doctor has told him that he has to take a pill twice a day and an injection for 6 weeks/treatment -. He also says that the doctor has indicated - after a 6-week treatment, it is possible the disease will go into remission and may be cured? Does anyone know any information about treatment, and remission, and what I should expect when he is undergoing treatment. What else can I do to help him out other than offer encouragement and emotional support?? Any information you can provide will be great! Thanks!

Continue to support this regime of treatment that is scientifically sound and medically proven. Don't let him fall for any mumbo-jumbo herbal/homeopathic/naturopathic/etc. miracle cures.
Reply:Your friend has chronic Hep C it may go into remission but he Will not be cured ..You came her for information but there is so much you both need to know about HepC and the treatment or non treatment.The best thing for you to do for him would be to find a Hep C support group. If you could get him to go and for you to go also. If he does not want to go then you go.I hope you both go.I hope he understands how to read his biopsy and with an educated mind he then makes the best decision for him You Will meet other Heppers and get the best information that is out there about HepC

Reply:I have a friend who went through a HepC treatment, but it took almost a year and was one shot per week with daily pills. He became tired and irritable, and very anemic. The good news is that the virus is now gone and has stayed gone for over one year. this is exciting, because how often can modern medicine cure anything? Not very often!


The main thing is to try to keep him upbeat and make sure he gets rest. If he becomes irritable and yells at you, try not to let it hurt your feelings and don't take it personally. I hope the treatment goes well for your friend.
Reply:Hi I knew a girl with Hep C. She started taking a vitamin called Arginex. Apparently it repairs the liver. Anyway, I'm sure it did not cure her...but I know she is doing a lot better.
