eat, drink after her, worn her clothes, she is a mass therapist(can't do it now) and has given me massages', am I at risk?
Best friend has hep c, should i get tested, ?
Hep C is not contracted through casual contact, and it rarely transmitted through sex. You are probably not at risk unless you have shared toothbrushes, razors, tattoo needles, or piercing needles with her (I'm leaving out the other risk factors because you said you don't do drugs). Your local health dept. may offer free testing if you have a risk factor. Many people have hep c and don't find out for many years later because there are no symptoms until the liver becomes very damaged. Get tested %26amp; find out for sure. Best wishes.
Reply:Many people are vaccinated for hep A and B by law for public schools/ colleges.
Hep C is a blood to blood transmission type.
Meaning your blood has to contact her blood.
drinking, clothes, and touching will have no affect.
If you have shared a razor or toothbrush you might be at risk, but only because you can cut yourself often with a razor (little nicks) and if your gums bleed when brushing your teeth (rare, and most people dont share brushes anyways).
From normal contact you can not contract it.
Reply:HCV is spread through sharing needles or "works" when "shooting" drugs, through needlesticks or sharps exposures on the job, or from an infected mother to her baby during birth. There is no vaccine to prevent hepatitis C.
Do not shoot drugs; if you shoot drugs, stop and get into a treatment program; if you can't stop, never share needles, syringes, water, or "works", and get vaccinated against hepatitis A %26amp; B.
Do not share personal care items that might have blood on them (razors, toothbrushes).
If you are a health care or public safety worker, always follow routine barrier precautions and safely handle needles and other sharps; get vaccinated against hepatitis B.
Consider the risks if you are thinking about getting a tattoo or body piercing. You might get infected if the tools have someone else's blood on them or if the artist or piercer does not follow good health practices.
HCV can be spread by sex, but this is rare. If you are having sex with more than one steady sex partner, use latex condoms* correctly and every time to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. You should also get vaccinated against hepatitis B.
If you are HCV positive, do not donate blood, organs, or tissue.
You may want to get tested because you and her have been so close - there is no telling, blood may have been passed through some kind of way.....good luck.
Reply:My sister has hep C and we have the same type of contact that you listed above. Unless you have had intercourse or used the same needles...no need to get tested.
Make sure you are there for your sister and don't treat her any differently than you did before you knew she had Hep C.
Reply:Practically impossible. Hep C is transferred blood to blood - mainly by sharing needles, rarely through sex or other ways.
Reply:the only way that you would contact this through your friend is if you have shared the same toothbrush, razor and have open cuts in your mouth or legs. other than that you can get it through blood on blood contact. just like with aids.
Reply:You should get tested if you've shared with her personal care items like razors, nail clippers, manicure items, toothbrushes and earrings.
Reply:Hep C is transmitted through blood-blood contact. There is a low risk through sexual contact. You tell me. Are you at risk?
Reply:You are probably fine if you haven't shared needles or had any type of intercourse.
Reply:probably not. but if its going to bother you then get tested... it wont hurt anything and will give you piece of mind.
Reply:not really but if u really want
it neve hurts to go to the doctor every once in a while to get urself checked out
Reply:well did you two have intercourse?
